“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” –Matthew 19:14
We seek to foster within each child the desire to discover God in a personal way, leaving an eternal imprint of God’s love on his/her life beginning with infancy and continuing through 5th grade. We seek to partner with families to help children meet and love Jesus: to discover the blessing of His word, the Bible; to learn to live like Him; and to share Him with others.
An open nursery is available in Room 2 where infants and their parents are invited to come in and make themselves at home during the Worship Service. Provisions are available for nursing mothers in the privacy of our on-site sleeping room.
Nurturing for Children ages 2 – 3 begins with the Sunday School hour from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. in Room 4. During this time, toddlers follow a pattern of welcome time (settling in, saying goodbye), mat time (bible story), table time (something hands-on) and free play. Childcare is provided during the Worship Service as well. LCC staff changes at 10:40. Parents are encouraged to take advantage of this transition by taking their toddler upstairs for the beginning of the service. In addition to the present joy our children find in singing, this is a great opportunity to take a baby step towards including your children in corporate worship. Snack is served in the middle of the hour followed by free play.
Children’s Sunday School for Age 4 – 5th grade. The opening program begins in room 3 at 9:30 a.m. on the mid level and then the children divide into age groups.
At Living Christ Church, we believe that the body of Christ is inclusive of all God’s people. We strive at every opportunity to accommodate and incorporate the youngest members of Christ’s family into corporate worship. Many Sundays children are invited to gather at the front of the church for the Children’s Sermon where they get a snapshot of the morning’s message on their own level. Creative and innovative ways to encourage their developing participation are pioneered throughout the year. Keep your eyes open and you are likely to see something new. Age appropriate Bible Bags are handed out following the children’s sermon or are available from the greeters in the foyer. Helping your children locate Pastor Jeff’s morning scripture text in a Bible on their own reading level is a delightful way to show your children that God’s word is for all of us.
Special one-time events happen throughout the year. They have included family canoe trips, an Easter art show, a multi-generational New Year’s Eve party, an all-church camping trip, new parents fellowship cookout, and group tickets to a local concert. Make sure you are on our Family Ministries contact list for special announcements and select mailings. (email Heather Shields at firstname.lastname@example.org)

Your children’s care and safety is very important to our staff. We make every effort to provide a fun and safe place for you and your children to learn about Jesus. To that end, Living Christ Church follows the volunteer staffing procedures outlined in Safe Place, a program for screening and training volunteers.
